The Eleventh Commandment
I know, I know: “She included a video in her portfolio. Do I really have to watch this?” Technically, I can’t make you do anything…
But this is the project I’m the most proud of. It’s a ridiculous story, explains a lot about me as a person, and is less than three and a half minutes. So I’d really like it if you did.
The Eleventh Commandment
The Very True Story of how I got a detention in high school for wearing gray socks.
Process:
This was a beast of a project. I created a detailed storyboard, drew each element by hand, scanned them, digitally colored everything using a laptop instead of a tablet like a psycho, wrote the script, recorded the voiceover in my small closet because the acoustics were better, animated in Adobe AfterEffects and edited the final pieces in Adobe Premiere.
The Eleventh Commandment was selected to be featured and displayed in the 2018 Annual Student Art Exhibition by exhibition juror Carolyn Henne.
It was also the first-place winner of the University of Mary Washington 2018 Digital Project Contest in the Individual category.
“As one judge stated, it was an “amazingly well-executed project.” Another commented “this was a great video. The animation is great! The audio is great! The story is great!”
I would also like to share with you that your project received the first-ever perfect score from all of its judges.”
